Kimberly Smith-Jentsch

Kimberly Smith-Jentsch, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Management

I am passionate about giving students the tools and the confidence to make a difference in the world of management. I was drawn to the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College because of their sincere commitment to these goals. Here, scientific rigor and managerial relevance go hand in hand.

Kimberly Smith-Jentsch, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Management at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College where she teaches organizational behavior, human resource management, consulting practices, research methods and statistics. Her research on team performance, training, mentoring, and simulation-based performance assessment has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Human Factors and has been cited over 2000 times to date. Dr. Smith-Jentsch is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Business and Psychology.

Prior to joining Rollins College, Dr. Smith-Jentsch served as director of the Ph.D. program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Central Florida, and as a civilian research psychologist for the United States Navy. Over the course of her career, Dr. Smith-Jentsch has received over $10M in contracts and grants from agencies such as the U. S. Navy, the State of Florida, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She has also received a number of prestigious awards for her work including the M. Scott Myers Award for Applied Research in the Workplace (2001 and 2013), the Dr. Arthur E. Bisson Award for Naval Technology Achievement (2000), and the NAVAIR Senior Scientist Award (2000).

Dr. Smith-Jentsch has directed online mentoring programs to support those making major life transitions such as children aging out of the foster care system, young adults who are the first in their families to attend college, and single parents transitioning from welfare to work. She is frequently invited to give presentations on topics related to team leadership and performance for those working in high risk environments such as aviation/aerospace, healthcare, and military/law enforcement.
